An aspiring Conservative Councillor has been jailed after he failed to disclose his criminal history on election nomination papers.
Michael Jefferson Fadaka, of Bedale Road, Enfield, stood as a Tory candidate for Enfield Lock ward in the May 2014 local elections.
Wood Green Crown Court heard an allegation was made to police Fadaka, 34, made a false declaration on nomination forms during the same month of the elections.
An investigation was launched and it was discovered he failed to mention he was convicted of a £30,000 benefits scam in 2011 and was handed a 12-month suspended prison sentence.
