Brendan Smith was pounced on by the terrifying animal just a day into his safari holiday in Johannesburg, South Africa.
The lion jumped through an open car window before sinking its teeth into Smith's legs in a savage ambush.
Luckily, the man from Perth, Western Australia, miraculously survived the mauling, and decided to share his horrific experience on his social media page.
He wrote: "No later then 36 hours after touching down in Africa I find myself in hospital after a lion jumped through the car window and decided to go to town on my legs.Graphic content after the cut...
The keen adventurer has updated his Facebook followers to say he is now out of hospital and "counting my blessings".
"When the swelling and bruises have gone down I'll head back home and be dancing up a storm in no time," he said.
